If you’re a fan of beef jerky and enjoy the sweet and savory flavors of teriyaki, then you’re in for a treat with this homemade teriyaki beef jerky recipe. Not only is this recipe easy to make, but it’s also much healthier and tastier than store-bought versions. Plus, you can customize the ingredients to your liking and control the amount of sugar and sodium in the jerky.

To start, you’ll need about two pounds of lean beef such as flank steak or sirloin. Slice the beef into thin strips against the grain for a tender and easy-to-chew jerky. You can also ask your butcher to do this for you if you prefer. Next, it’s time to prepare the teriyaki marinade.

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a hint of heat. Mix well until the sugar has dissolved, and then add the beef strips to the marinade. Make sure to coat each piece of beef thoroughly, and allow it to marinate for at least two hours or overnight for maximum flavor.

Once the beef has marinated, preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C) or use a food dehydrator if you have one. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the beef strips on the rack, making sure they are not touching each other to allow for proper air circulation.

Bake the beef jerky in the oven for 3-4 hours, or until it is dry and leathery but still slightly pliable. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the beef and how chewy you like your jerky. You can also rotate the baking sheet halfway through the cooking process for even dehydration.

Once the teriyaki beef jerky is done, allow it to cool completely before storing it in an airtight container. Homemade beef jerky can last for up to two weeks at room temperature, but it’s best to keep it in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.

Now that you have a delicious batch of homemade teriyaki beef jerky, you can enjoy it as a snack on the go, add it to salads or sandwiches, or even serve it as an appetizer at your next gathering. And if you’re ever craving more teriyaki flavors, simply search for “Teriyaki near me” to find a nearby restaurant or takeout option that will satisfy your cravings.
